Earth Conservancy received a $10,000 grant from the Robert H. Spitz Foundation to support the 2022 cohort of the Environmental Workforce Training Program, which trains unemployed area residents for environmentally-focused careers and provides ongoing job search assistance.  The goal is not only to improve graduates’ financial stability, but also to advance the region’s environmental and economic health.  To date, over 60 individuals have participated in the 233-hour program.  The average employment rate for program graduates seeking work is over 87%.

The Robert H. Spitz Foundation is a registered 501c3 nonprofit organization that supports initiatives and programs serving the residents of Lackawanna County and Northeastern Pennsylvania. The Scranton Area Community Foundation serves as the administrator of the Robert H. Spitz Foundation.
