The National Wildlife Federation highlighted Earth Conservancy’s and EPCAMR’s work to reclaim abandoned mine lands and waterways at a press event to release their recent report, The Climate Benefits of Degraded Lands Reclamation and Restoration. Joining the discussion were representatives from PennFuture, the PA Foundation for Fair Contracting, U.S. EPA Mid-Atlantic Region, North Branch Land Trust, and Congressman Matt Cartwright’s office. As the report explains, through responsible land use and management, projects like those at Bliss Bank, Espy Run, and Askam not only repair past environmental damage, but also produce long-term benefits for the climate, economy, and a community’s well-being.
