EC was honored to host a press event for U.S. Senator Bob Casey on our Truesdale Bank site, as he spoke about the significant investments being made in Pennsylvania to reclaim abandoned mine lands and restore local streams through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Two cases in point, grants EC will receive through the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection‘s AML Program, one targeting future development in Newport Township, the other to restore over 15,000LF of the Nanticoke Creek.

All the speakers – Acting Secretary for PADEP Jessica Shirley; Deputy Secretary for PADEP’s Office of Active and Abandoned Mine Operations John Stefanko; EPCAMR’s Executive Director; Bobby Hughes; and EC’s President/CEO, Terry Ostrowski – highlighted the importance of the new funding made available through BIL Law, with the environment and local economy benefiting. For a more in-depth look, read Michael P. Buffer’s article Cleaning Up in the Citizens’ Voice.
