In December, WVIA reporter Kat Bolus and photographer Aimee Dilger visited EC’s offices to meet with the team from the Industrial Archives & Library. The organization, starting back in April, has been working to preserve the historical records of the Blue Coal Corporation. When Blue Coal closed, they basically up and left. Thousands of personnel, accounting, and general business documents – and hundreds and hundreds of drawings and maps – were left behind. This made them vulnerable to time (and dust!). But as attested to by the Archives staff, the records have remained in realtively good shape. Now, the task is sort and properly conserve them. Intrigued?
