This April, Earth Conservancy was pleased to participate in the US Environmental Protection Agency’s 2011 National Brownfields Conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  The conference, which brings together all levels of stakeholders involved in brownfields work, is one of the EPA’s largest events annually.  While there, Jacqueline Dickman, EC’s Director of Public Affairs and Development, served panelist in a roundtable discussion entitled “Brown to Green: The New Industry Standard.” Ms. Dickman’s presentation focused on the reuse of mine-scarred lands. Meanwhile, President/CEO Mike Dziak showcased several of EC’s reclaimed brownfield sites at the Economic Redevelopment Forum, meeting with Secretary C. Alan Walker of the Pennsylvania DCED; Scott Dunkelberger, Executive Director of the Commonwealth Finance Authority; Denise Brinley, Deputy Secretary of the Pennsylvania DEP’s Community Revitalization and Local Government Support division; and Brownfields Coordinator Sherry Gallagher of the EPA.
