We’re pleased to share that the Industrial Archives & Library (IAL) has digitized a nearly complete collection of the Glen Alden Coal Company’s annual reports, making them accessible to researchers, historians, and those interested in Pennsylvania’s industrial heritage.

The digital collection covers annual reports from 1930 to 1965. As noted by the IAL, the documents provide unique insights into how Glen Alden navigated the challenging transition as anthracite coal began to decline as a primary household fuel. Of particular interest: the way the reports reveal the company’s strategic diversification beyond coal mining into various industries, such as textiles, air conditioning, and fire truck manufacturing.

Researchers and history enthusiasts can now access the full collection online on the IAL website under Glen Alden Annual Reports.
