When EC purchased
the former Blue Coal Corporation lands in 1994, its vision was to return the
land to the community for its best possible use, as quickly as
possible. With that goal in
mind, more than 11,000 acres are included in the Pennsylvania Game
Commission's Forest Game Co-operators Program. Under this program, EC
still retains ownership of the land, but the public has free and immediate
access to it for recreational purposes. Individual
parcels of land will be removed from the program only when a more beneficial
land use opportunity is presented. Persons who use these lands for recreational purposes are required to obey Pennsylvania Game Commission regulations, which governs hunting practices and prohibit motorized activities
